What your furniture is made of

Your set is hand-woven from all-weather resin weave — a high-density synthetic cord (often called resin rattan or PE weave) over a rust-free, powder-coated aluminium frame. It’s built to live outdoors: UV-stable, colourfast and fully weatherproof, so it won’t rot, crack or fade quickly the way natural rattan would.

That said, resin weave is still a woven surface. Dust, pollen, leaf debris and the odd spilled drink all build up over time, and a little regular care goes a long way toward keeping it looking showroom-fresh.

Routine cleaning

For most of the year, resin weave needs very little. Aim for a quick wipe-down every few weeks during the season, and a proper clean once or twice a year.

1. Brush off loose debris

   Use a soft brush or dry cloth to clear dust, pollen and leaves from the weave before you add any water. This stops grit being dragged across the surface.

2. Wash with warm soapy water

   Mix a little mild washing-up liquid into warm water. Wipe with a soft cloth or sponge, working gently along the line of the weave rather than scrubbing across it.

3. Reach into the gaps

   A soft toothbrush or a clean paintbrush is ideal for lifting dirt out of the woven grooves where a cloth can't reach.

4. Rinse and air-dry

   Rinse off the soapy residue with clean water — a low-pressure hose is fine — then let the furniture air-dry fully before you cover it or add cushions. Never use a pressure washer, which can loosen the weave.

Resin weave can stay outdoors all year — it won’t rust and it’s fully weatherproof — but we recommend covering it over the colder, wetter months. A breathable cover keeps it clean and stops water pooling and freezing in the weave.

A few common questions

• Will it fade? The resin weave is UV-stable and colourfast, so any change over many years will be gentle and even — not the rapid fading you'd see with cheaper materials.
• Can I leave it out all winter? Yes — it's fully weatherproof and won't rust. We recommend covering it through winter to keep it cleaner and extend its life.
• What about mould or a green film? That's surface growth from damp and shade, not damage. Warm soapy water and a soft brush will lift it; rinse and dry well afterwards.
• The weave feels loose in one spot. Minor movement is normal as the set settles. If a strand lifts or snags, get in touch before it spreads — an early fix is an easy one. Don't pull or cut it.
• There are white marks on the frame. Usually hard-water spotting rather than damage (aluminium can't rust). Warm soapy water and a soft cloth will lift most of it; dry well afterwards.
